An Illinois federal judge on Thursday declined to sign off on a consent judgment agreement between AIX Specialty Insurance Co. and Bird Brain Inc. in their coverage dispute over the company's allegedly explosion-prone fuel firepots, citing that Bird Brain doesn't have a lawyer.

AIX Specialty Insurance Co. told an Illinois federal court Monday that it shouldn't have to defend Lowe's Home Centers LLC and a backyard products manufacturer in a suit over fuel firepot products that allegedly exploded, saying they were recalled in 2011 and not included under the policy.
