A North Carolina federal judge on Wednesday refused to trim Apollo Valves' suit requesting a declaration that it didn't rip off copper alloy patents owned by metal production rival Mitsubishi Shindoh Co. Ltd., saying Apollo's unfair and deceptive trade practices claim isn't preempted by federal patent law.
