A Texas federal judge has denied the U.S. government's request to stay an injunction against a federal ban on interstate handgun transfers, saying the U.S. Department of Justice failed to demonstrate that any stay was warranted.

In a significant victory for handgun advocates, a Texas federal judge ruled Wednesday that responsible, law-abiding citizens have the right to purchase and transfer handguns from states other than their own, holding that laws requiring a federally licensed intermediary were unconstitutional.
