Apple Must Fight Wi-LAN Patent Invalidity Suit In 2 Courts
The Oakland federal judge overseeing Apple Inc.'s bid to invalidate Wi-LAN Inc. data transmission patents granted Wi-LAN's motion Thursday to ship the tech giant's claims to a San Diego federal court to join a related suit, but said he will hang onto Apple's claims against patents of a Wi-LAN subsidiary.

Apple Says Wi-LAN Unit Can't Escape Patent Suit
Apple Inc. urged a California federal judge on Monday to reject a bid by a Wi-LAN Inc. subsidiary to sever itself from the tech giant's suit to invalidate a group of data transmission patents, saying the subsidiary is a direct extension of Wi-LAN and that they each asserted patents in bad faith.
