A California federal judge on Thursday dismissed a lawsuit accusing directors of Impax Laboratories Inc. of doing nothing to correct warnings about its drugmaking quality safeguards and fibbing about its efforts, holding that the plaintiffs must establish they made demands in the boardroom before turning to the courtroom.

Impax Laboratories Inc. asked a California federal judge Friday to toss a shareholder derivative suit accusing its board of directors of allowing recurring regulatory compliance failures, saying the complaint falls short of showing a lack of board oversight or a disregard of any alleged "red flags" raised over its drug production.
