Biotronik Inc. called litigation over discovery requests in a $1.1 million attorneys' fee dispute stemming from a False Claims Act settlement "unconscionable," saying the whistleblower's attorney is trying to generate even more fees in a California federal court filing this week.

Biotronik Inc. has agreed to pay $4.9 million to settle allegations in a False Claims Act suit that the company defrauded Medicare and Medicaid by paying kickbacks to induce physicians to use the company's medical devices, the U.S. Department of Justice said Thursday.
