A California federal judge on Wednesday threw out the Howrey LLP trustee's demands for about $20 million in billings from Jones Day, Seyfarth Shaw LLP, Perkins Coie LLP and a handful of other firms that hired Howrey attorneys who earned money working for ex-Howrey clients after their lateral moves.

Jones Day, Seyfarth Shaw LLP, Perkins Coie LLP and several other firms that hired Howrey LLP attorneys after the firm went bankrupt urged a California federal judge on Wednesday to throw out Howrey's bid to claw back profits those attorneys made representing its clients made after leaving the firm.
