Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett's expansion of Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act was allowed to go into effect as planned on Thursday after a federal judge refused to grant an injunction sought as part of a class action challenging the state's system for assigning low-income residents to new benefit plans.

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett's administration was slapped with a putative class action on Monday alleging that a new process for assigning low-income residents to benefit plans as part of the state's waiver plan to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act violated due process rights.
