Data Brokers Settle FTC Claims Over Data Sold To Scammers
The Federal Trade Commission has secured nearly $10 million in partially suspended payments in order to resolve its claims that a trio of data brokers sold consumers' bank account numbers, Social Security numbers and other confidential information to scammers, the regulator said Thursday.

The Federal Trade Commission on Friday pressed an Arizona federal judge to grant default judgment of more than $4 million against a data broker accused of selling consumers' confidential information to scammers, saying the company hasn't respond to the complaint filed against it almost a year ago.
