Automatic Data Processing Inc. again dodged a proposed class action accusing it of deducting illegal fees from payroll debit cards when a Pennsylvania federal judge held Thursday that the payroll processing giant was not established as a liable agent, but that claims could go forward against the actual employer.

A Pennsylvania federal judge tossed a putative class action accusing Automatic Data Processing Inc. of deducting illegal fees from payroll debit cards, saying Thursday the suit can't go forward because the payroll processing giant was not the employer or established as a liable agent.
