Visa Inc. said Monday that a suit accusing it of using copyrighted photographs of hotels should be transferred from California to New York or stayed because a pending New York case will resolve a licensing issue at the heart of the case.

A photography studio lodged a suit against Visa Inc. in California federal court Friday, claiming the credit card company and its affiliates had committed "blatant acts of copyright infringement" by illegally using the studio's photos of several luxury hotels to promote travel bookings on their websites.
