Uber Technologies Inc. has settled a proposed class action accusing the ride-hailing company of misleading consumers over how it screens its drivers, according to court documents filed in California federal court Wednesday.

Uber Technologies Inc. was hit with a consumer class action alleging that it lies to riders about the safety checks it conducts on its drivers and their cars, the plaintiff said Wednesday, a little more than a month after district attorneys in Los Angeles and San Francisco raised similar claims.
