An Indiana federal judge has dismissed an insulation patent suit that had been running for years just before trial, but declined to vacate her prior claim construction order because it "would likely disserve the public interest" and waste the significant effort put into the case already.

An Indiana federal judge grudgingly postponed an upcoming patent trial involving insulation rivals Knauf Insulation and Johns Manville Corp. on Monday to allow more preparation, but she rejected a call to wait for the result of a design patent case before the full Federal Circuit as "complete speculation."
