The Department of Defense has fired back against Sigmatech Inc. in a suit over the termination of the defense contractor's blanket purchase agreement with the U.S. Army, telling an Alabama federal judge that Sigmatech no longer qualified for the agreement after it "graduated" from a small to a large business.

Alabama-based defense contractor Intuitive Research and Technology Corporation said Monday that rival Sigmatech Inc.'s suit over the alleged improper termination of a blanket purchase agreement is "all about money" and should be dismissed for lack of jurisdiction.

The U.S. Department of Defense hit back at Sigmatech Inc.'s bid for an injunction blocking it from terminating a purchase agreement with the company after Sigmatech outgrew its small business status, telling an Alabama federal judge Wednesday that the termination was fair and lawful.

Sigmatech Inc. asked a federal court on Thursday to hold the U.S. Department of Defense responsible for the U.S. Army's Aviation and Missile Command division's alleged improper termination of a blanket purchase agreement with the company after it outgrew its classification as a small business, and to bar the termination from going into effect.
