A Florida federal judge on Wednesday granted prosecutors' request that he reduce the sentence he handed down last year to an investment adviser who assisted former attorney Scott Rothstein's Ponzi scheme, on account of his “substantial assistance” in the prosecution of a key figure in the fraud.

A Florida investment adviser whom prosecutors said served as a "verifer" of $200 million worth of transactions in former attorney Scott Rothstein's $1.2 billion Ponzi scheme, received a 30-month sentence Monday, avoiding a significantly longer penalty after pleading guilty and cooperating with prosecutors.
