A New York federal judge said Monday he would grant the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's request for a $1 million judgment against an imprisoned hedge fund manager who allegedly stole money from investors before faking his own death.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday won a preliminary injunction against a hedge fund manager accused of faking his death and stealing investor money to buy eyebrow-raising items, and heralded the New York federal judge's order, which froze assets and protects evidence.
