An Illinois bankruptcy judge granted a request by Caesars Entertainment on Friday to pause two suits by note trustees against Caesar's bankrupt operating unit, saying that suits seeking to recover on the $7.1 billion in notes could send Caesars into a bankruptcy of its own.

Manhattan U.S. District Judge Shira A. Scheindlin kept a $7 billion trial set for March 14 on track Monday as two bond trustees seek to force Caesars Entertainment Corp. to make good on a bankrupt subsidiary's notes, but cautioned the proceeding may be subject to a Chicago Chapter 11 stay.

A Manhattan federal judge on Thursday denied summary judgment to trustees BOKF NA and UMB Bank NA in their attempts to force Caesars Entertainment Corp. to make good on $7 billion in Caesars Entertainment Operating Co. notes, finding discovery is needed to find out if the casino concern's private equity owners restructured the bankrupt subsidiary's debt in ways that impaired lenders' rights.
