A Louisiana federal judge refused Tuesday to reconsider pausing bias claims the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission brought against a loan company, saying the agency must wait until arbitration ends between the company and a transgender man it allegedly fired for refusing to present as a woman.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission joined a transgender man's lawsuit Friday against a Mississippi finance company claiming he was unlawfully fired for refusing to dress and be treated as a woman, saying addressing discrimination based on gender identity is a "priority issue for the commission."
