The Federal Circuit on Monday affirmed a California federal court's ruling that the asserted claims of patents for a logic-circuit are invalid because they are abstract under the U.S. Supreme Court's 2014 Alice ruling.

Synopsys urged a Federal Circuit panel on Thursday to toss an Oregon federal jury's $36 million award against it for allegedly infringing Mentor Graphics' computer emulator patent, arguing the award was wrongly based on sales of the devices rather than the value of the patent.
