UPS will pay $4.2 million to close out a whistleblower's suit alleging the company lied to avoid paying refunds to state and city governments after the shipper agreed to shell out $25 million in a deal earlier this year, a former employee's attorneys said Tuesday.

UPS will pay $25 million, including $3.75 million to a former employee, to settle False Claims Act allegations the international shipper falsified delivery records of federal and state government packages to avoid paying refunds, the U.S. Department of Justice said Tuesday.
