A North Carolina federal judge granted the U.S. government a temporary restraining order Tuesday, allowing the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to halt payments to a contractor while still providing for subcontractors to be paid through the court.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers filed a lawsuit in North Carolina federal court Thursday to force a pair of government contractors to pay their Army base subcontractors after a state court halted the payments because of an ongoing legal dispute between the two companies.
