Toshiba Corp. and California-based semiconductor company BaySand Inc. said on Sunday that they've settled their dispute over Toshiba's alleged infringement of BaySand's patented nanometer technology, ending a federal lawsuit in California and arbitration before the International Chamber of Commerce in Japan.

A California federal judge said Thursday an arbitrator must decide whether semiconductor company BaySand Inc.'s claims that Toshiba infringed its patented nanometer technology should be arbitrated, ruling that BaySand knew what it was doing when it signed an arbitration agreement.

Toshiba Corp. was accused in California federal court on Monday of flouting a semiconductor company's patented nanometer technology for certain types of integrated circuits and stealing trade secrets related to that technology under the guise of a bogus attempt to buy the company.
