A Florida federal judge declined Wednesday to sanction a Massachusetts lawyer for failing to first register with the court before appearing in a copyright dispute between two porn companies, saying that the actions appeared to be the product of “procrastination and apathy” and not bad faith.

A Massachusetts lawyer should be slapped with sanctions for repeatedly trying to inject himself into a copyright dispute between two porn companies without first registering with the Florida federal court overseeing the suit, adult site operator Hydentra HLP Int. Ltd. said Wednesday.
