    Airlines' $40M One-Size-Fits-All Deal Unfair, Justices Told

    An advocacy group asked the U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday to review a $39.5 million settlement in antitrust multidistrict litigation accusing Societe Air France, Japan Airlines and other airlines of fixing prices for transpacific flights, saying lower courts ignored intraclass conflicts by approving a one-size-fits-all deal.

    Airlines' $40M Antitrust Deal Unfair, 9th Circ. Hears

    An objector to a $39.5 million settlement ending antitrust claims in multidistrict litigation against Societie Air France and others told a Ninth Circuit panel Friday the settlement unfairly lumped the claims of customers who bought tickets through travel agents with the stronger case of direct purchasers, diluting her damages.

    Airline passengers pressed the Ninth Circuit on Monday to clear a combined $39.5 million settlement they struck with Societe Air France, Japan Airlines International Co. Ltd. and other airlines in price-fixing multidistrict litigation, saying objections raised by a lone dissenter are merely "speculative."

    9th Circ. Urged To Nix $40M Deal In Airline Price-Fixing MDL

    An objecting class member asked the Ninth Circuit on Wednesday to nix a recently approved $39.5 million settlement between passengers and Societe Air France, Japan Airlines International Co. Ltd. and other airlines in price-fixing multidistrict litigation, saying there are intraclass conflicts in the deal.
