A federal judge in Boston on Friday said he would grant preliminary approval to a $7.5 million class action settlement with Wal-Mart Stores Inc. workers who were unable to get benefits for their same-sex spouses, while slightly tweaking the attorneys' fees in the deal.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. entered a $7.5 million settlement with as many as a few thousand workers who were unable to get health care coverage for their same-sex spouses, according to a proposed agreement filed in Massachusetts federal court on Friday.
