Lifelock Inc. agreed Thursday to pay $100 million to settle the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's allegations that the identity theft protection firm made bogus statements about its services and failed to safeguard customer data, the largest sum ever imposed in an FTC order enforcement action.

LifeLock Inc. has reached a deal with the Federal Trade Commission and a class of consumers in litigation over claims the identity theft protection company made about its services, and has set aside $116 million to cover the proposed settlement, the company told investors Wednesday.
