Federal Insurance Co. has told a California federal judge that it doesn't have to cover health-care analytics company MedeAnalytics Inc.'s costs to defend a $30 million suit claiming it poached a former business partner's employees, saying the underlying complaint doesn't allege a potentially covered claim.

MedeAnalytics Inc. hit Federal Insurance Co. with a suit Wednesdat claiming the insurer breached its policy contract by failing to defend or indemnify the health care company in an underlying personal injury suit brought by a former business partner, even though slander and libel were allegedly covered under the insurance agreement.
