The whistleblower at the heart of a lawsuit accusing Redflex Traffic Systems Inc. of bilking the city of Chicago out of at least $125 million through an alleged bribery scheme was booted from the suit Tuesday by a federal judge who said the scheme had already been detailed in the press before the one-time Redflex employee stepped forward.

Redflex Traffic Systems Inc. pushed an Illinois federal court Tuesday to nix the whistleblower from a $300 million Chicago False Claims Ordinance suit accusing the red light camera manufacturer of bribing a former city official for millions of dollars' worth of contracts, arguing that the former employee only alleged what the public already knew.
