Swiss Re subsidiary Westport Insurance Corp. said Monday that its suit accusing a law firm of overbilling a policyholder by $3 million belongs in federal court in Los Angeles, rejecting Vasquez Estrada & Conway LLP's argument that the case should be transferred to San Francisco.

A law firm accused by a Swiss Re insurer of overbilling more than $3 million for a policyholder's asbestos defense told a Los Angeles federal court on Tuesday that the case belongs in San Francisco since the firm closed its area office and axed most of its attorneys after the insurer fired it.
