The federal government has shot back at allegations from Texas, Kansas and Louisiana that part of the Affordable Care Act unconstitutionally forces states to pay taxes to the federal government, saying the states have no standing, in part because the disputed ACA fee makes no mention of states.

Texas, Kansas and Louisiana sued the federal government Thursday, claiming that part of the Affordable Care Act that levies a fee on health insurance providers unconstitutionally forces states to pay taxes to the federal government, seeking the return in part of the $150 million they've already paid.
