    J&J Gets $1B Damages Cut In Half In Hip Verdict

    A Texas federal judge on Tuesday slashed nearly in half the more than $1 billion in punitive damages a jury awarded to plaintiffs who claimed Johnson & Johnson and subsidiary DePuy Orthopaedics Inc. rushed a faulty hip implant to market, prompting the plaintiffs to appeal.

    $1B Verdict In J&J Hip Implant Bellwether Up For Judge's OK

    The six bellwether plaintiffs in multidistrict litigation over allegedly defective Pinacle hip prosthetics made by Johnson & Johnson's DuPuy Orthopaedics Inc. unit on Tuesday asked a Texas federal judge to sign off on each of their jury awards, collectively totaling more than $1.04 billion.
