A former U.S. House Benghazi committee investigator has reached a settlement to end his D.C. federal court lawsuit alleging both that the committee improperly fired him for taking military service leave and that committee chair Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., defamed him in the media, the investigator's attorneys said Monday.

A former House Benghazi Committee investigator sued the committee and leader Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., on Monday in D.C. federal court, accusing the committee of firing him for taking leave for military service and saying the congressman defamed him in the media.
