Utility company Commonwealth Edison Co. will receive attorneys' fees and costs from a company accusing it of patent infringement, an Illinois federal judge ruled, but law firm Stadheim & Grear Ltd. won't be issued any specific sanctions for bringing its suit.

A patent-holding company accusing Illinois' largest electricity utility, Commonwealth Edison Co., of infringing a wireless communications patent brought a "hopeless" suit that failed to meet new pleading standards for patent cases, an Illinois federal judge has ruled.
