A medical software company urged an Indiana federal court Monday to dismiss multidistrict litigation launched against it over a 2015 data breach that exposed the sensitive data of 3.9 million people, arguing that the breach alone did not cause any injuries under the law.

Cohen & Malad LLP made a move in Indiana federal court on Wednesday to be named interim lead counsel in multidistrict litigation over a data breach at Medical Informatics Engineering Inc. affecting 3.9 million patients, while Keller Rohrback LLP and Chimicles & Tikellis LLP told the court they should split the job.

The U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation on Thursday sent three suits stemming from a cyberattack on Medical Informatics Engineering Inc. that exposed the personal information of 3.9 million people to join others pending in Indiana, where the company is headquartered and located.
