A Louisiana federal judge on Monday threw out a New Orleans resident's lawsuit alleging the city violated his constitutional rights in refusing to grant him a hearing on his efforts to overturn a law providing for the removal of the city's Confederate and Jim Crow era monuments.

A Louisiana federal judge on Tuesday cleared the way for New Orleans to take down four Confederate monuments, saying the landmark and historical groups challenging the removal haven't proven it's unconstitutional or that it's connected to a citywide streetcar expansion project.
