A federal magistrate judge imposed a $100,000 criminal fine against a shuttered cheese plant in rural Delaware on Thursday, settling a case opened in 2014 after investigators linked the company to listeria-tainted products blamed for one death and several illnesses.

Roos Foods Inc. agreed in Delaware federal court on Friday to plead guilty to violating the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act by manufacturing and distributing various cheeses linked to a 2014 Listeria outbreak that led to the company's closure that year.
