The Illinois community whose right-to-work ordinance was struck down by a federal judge last month appealed to the Seventh Circuit this week, arguing that the January decision runs afoul of a Sixth Circuit decision that allowed the union-weakening statute for counties in Kentucky.

An Illinois town can't enforce a union-weakening "right-to-work" ordinance because it's preempted by federal labor law, an Illinois federal judge ruled on Saturday.
