A Pennsylvania federal judge on Thursday declined to disqualify Proskauer Rose LLP from defending The Renco Group in Steelworkers Pension Trust's suit over an alleged $86 million liability stemming from Renco unit RG Steel's bankruptcy, saying purported client conflicts didn't warrant disqualification.

Proskauer Rose LLP shot back in a Pennsylvania federal court Wednesday at the Steelworkers Pension Trust's bid to disqualify the firm from defending The Renco Group in an $86 million bankruptcy liability suit, calling the group's motion a baseless, tactical move created as a sideshow to delay a decision.

The Steelworkers Pension Trust on Wednesday pushed a Pennsylvania federal court to disqualify Proskauer Rose LLP from defending The Renco Group in the trust's attempt to collect an $86 million liability related to RG Steel's bankruptcy, arguing the firm has and currently represents a number of union pension plans.
