A law firm facing a malpractice suit by a former Whirlpool Corp. supplier over its handling of a patent licensing dispute with the appliance giant urged an Illinois federal judge on Thursday to toss the case, saying a 2013 deal between Whirlpool and the supplier nixes all malpractice claims.
