The federal government on Thursday agreed to pay The Boeing Co. $32.25 million to help cover the costs associated with state-ordered cleanup at a Kansas Superfund site where Boeing manufactured military planes for decades.

The Boeing Co. sued the federal government in Kansas federal court Wednesday, seeking reimbursement for the costs of addressing a Superfund site owned by the government where the company produced "thousands" of military planes, saying the U.S. is equally liable.
