A California federal court on Wednesday slimmed down a class action against Chipotle that alleges the Mexican food chain violated California advertising laws by misleading customers into thinking its dishes use only non-GMO ingredients, nixing the claims related to meat and dairy products but letting stand allegations about the company's tortillas and chips.

A putative class of Chipotle customers urged a federal judge in Southern California on Wednesday to let their false advertising suit against the fast food chain proceed, arguing that they were misled by claims that their tortillas, meat and dairy were entirely free of genetically modified organisms.
