Starbucks Can't Transfer Skimpy-Drink Suits, JPML Says
Four proposed class actions accusing Starbucks of tricking consumers by underfilling its drinks, two of which relate to lattes and two that involve iced beverages, don't sufficiently overlap and aren't complex enough to warrant centralization, the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation ruled Friday, striking down the retailer's transfer bid.

A pair of Starbucks Corp. latte drinkers have accused the coffee retailer of ripping off consumers by habitually underfilling its popular beverages by at least 25 percent, in violation of a number of California consumer protection laws, according to a proposed class action filed in California federal court on Wednesday.
