The Philadelphia Taxi Association appealed to the Third Circuit Wednesday hoping to revive its antitrust suit alleging Uber's entry into the city created an illegal monopoly in the vehicle-for-hire market by steadily putting traditional medallion cab companies out of business.

A Pennsylvania federal judge on Thursday threw out a lawsuit brought by the Philadelphia Taxi Association Inc. aimed at curtailing Uber Technologies Inc. in the city, finding that the group had not shown that the ride-hailing service was acting anti-competitively.
