FTC's Suit Against VW Emissions Ads Faces Damages Hurdle
The Federal Trade Commission's claim that consumers suffered "billions" of dollars in injuries because of Volkswagen's "clean diesel" advertisements is a confident play against a major corporation that admitted its software fooled emissions tests, but attorneys say the agency faces the subjective question of how much value drivers actually assigned to the cars' supposed environmental friendliness.

FTC Accuses VW Of Lying In Ads About Diesel Emissions
The Federal Trade Commission sued Volkswagen in California federal court Tuesday, alleging the automaker's "clean diesel" advertising campaign deceived consumers into buying vehicles fitted with defeat devices designed to cheat emissions standards, resulting in "billions" of dollars of injuries.
