Vague Claims, Immunity Doom Painkiller Data Suit, UC Says
Japanese drugmaker Nippon Zoki's allegations that a University of California professor fabricated data about a painkiller's effect on back pain and that the school covered it up are "conclusory at best" and should be dismissed, the UC system board said Monday, noting it's also immune to the claims.

A University of California professor likely falsified data about a painkiller's effect on back pain, and the school conducted a "whitewash campaign" to conceal the misconduct, Japanese drugmaker Nippon Zoki alleged Friday in a lawsuit filed in California federal court.
