The federal government will pay The Boeing Co. $40.75 million to cover the cost of environmental cleanup from Air Force manufacturing operations at a Long Beach, California, plant, according to a consent decree filed Tuesday in California federal court.

The Boeing Co. said Monday that it has resolved an environmental cleanup dispute with the U.S. government in California federal court over an aircraft manufacturing plant the contracting giant says was under complete military control for more than 20 years.
