    Murphy Oil Co. USA Inc. has reached an agreement with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to pay $100,000 to settle allegations that it fired a gas station manager because of his disability, in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

    Murphy Oil Corp. has told a Texas federal court that the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission cannot pursue damages or an injunction in a case alleging the gas station operator illegally fired an employee because of his back condition rather than accommodate him, arguing a company policy already bars such discrimination.

    EEOC Says Murphy Oil Fired Employee Because Of Disability

    The operator of gas stations commonly found in Wal-Mart parking lots was slapped with a disability discrimination suit in Texas federal court Thursday by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, after the agency said Murphy Oil had fired an employee because of his back condition rather than accommodate him.
