A New York federal judge found Thursday that Relativity Media LLC need not arbitrate a dispute over Netflix's efforts to stream two of its movies before their theatrical debuts, upholding a bankruptcy court's order blocking Netflix from making the films available early because it might disturb a court-approved Chapter 11 plan.

Netflix Inc. on Monday derided an appeal brief by Relativity Media LLC, telling a New York federal court that the filmmaker is relying on a bankruptcy court's "legally erroneous" finding that it doesn't need to arbitrate a dispute over a deal it previously signed with the streaming company.
