A California federal judge on Thursday kept alive the remaining state law claims in a proposed class action accusing Experian Information Solutions of duping consumers into buying credit reports, finding that the Fair Credit Reporting Act did not preempt them.

A consumer alleging Experian Information Solutions duped him into buying a credit report saw his suit frozen on Friday when a California federal judge sent it to arbitration, saying he was bound by the purchase agreement to let an arbitrator decide whether his claims fell within its Fair Credit Reporting Act provision.
