An Oregon federal judge kept alive the city of Portland's suit against Monsanto and two linked companies by adopting a magistrate judge's finding that the city had standing to bring a public nuisance claim over PCB pollution and giving it a chance to amend several other claims.

Monsanto Co. and two linked companies asked an Oregon federal judge on Thursday to throw out a suit against them by the city of Portland, Oregon, over PCB pollution, which they referred to — as in similar suits against them — as a "test case."
